    Dr. Carr is the Medical Director in the Division of Emergency Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Carr undertook her undergraduate studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She earned her M.D. at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1992 and completed her internship and residency in Emergency Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Carr is board certified in Emergency Medicine.


    Dr. Carr is one of the original members of the Emergency Medicine faculty, joining the group in 1995. Dr. Carr is also a member of several organizations including the American College of Emergency Medicine. She sits on the ACEP Coding and Nomenclature Committee and the ACEP Reimbursement Committee. She has been active in the MUSC and AAMC Women in Medicine groups and serves as a mentor to medical students and women in medicine. Dr. Carr was instrumental in developing the framework for the Emergency Medicine Residency program which started its first class in July 2007. Dr. Carr's expertise includes process improvement and organizational change, coding/billing and emergency medicine practice management, and medical informatics/health information exchange.
