    John “Juan” Luque, Ph.D., MPH is an Associate Professor of Health Behavior and Health Promotion in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (Charleston, SC) and an Associate Member of Hollings Cancer Center in the Division of Cancer Control. He received his PhD (Applied Anthropology) and MPH (Epidemiology) degrees from the University of South Florida, and his postdoctoral training in Behavioral Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Luque has been the Principal Investigator of multiple research projects sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. His research interests are in cancer education and lay health advisor interventions, with a focus on Latino immigrant populations. Dr. Luque has published over 45 peer-reviewed articles in top-tier scholarly journals, and in 2015, he served as a guest co-editor for the Journal of Cancer Education.
