overview Dr. Davidson is a faculty member at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Davidson’s research has focused on addressing mental health care disparities by maximizing the accessibility of evidence-based mental health resources via technology to vulnerable and underserved populations. In 2010 she was awarded an NIMH diversity supplement to develop Siempre Sale el Sol, a culturally-relevant, web-based depression intervention for Latino adolescents R01MH081056-S2. Dr. Davidson is currently serving as co-investigator on several federal-funded grants focusing on the development, evaluation, and implementation of evidence-based treatments delivered via eHealth and mHealth applications. Dr. Davidson was recently awarded the Maralynne Mitcham Interprofessional Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina to enhance collaborations between the National Crime Victims Center (NCVC) and the Pediatric Emergency Department (PEM) at MUSC to increase the quality of mental health care post-discharge of pediatric traumatic injury patients. Specifically, in this collaborative effort Dr. Davidson will examine the feasibility of identifying and assessing at-risk patients for PTSD and depression, and will develop and evaluate a widely accessible symptom tracking mechanisms to aid in the recovery process of pediatric injury patients. Finally, Dr. Davidson is integrally involved with the MUSC Center for Diversity and Mental Health Disparities Program, to promote the inclusion of health disparities in mental health research, teaching, and practice.
