overview Kathryn Marley Magruder, MPH, PhD, is a tenured Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina in the Departments of Psychiatry (Military Science Division) and Public Health Sciences (Division of Epidemiology) and is Director of the Office of Research Integrity. She is also with the VA Medical Center in Charleston SC. She earned her undergraduate degree at Duke University, and her MPH and PhD in Epidemiology at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Public Health. Dr. Magruder recently completed a Fulbright Award (Senior Researcher) in Ankara, Turkey at Hacettepe University where she studied trauma and PTSD in Turkish civilians. In addition, she has recently completed two large VA Cooperative Studies Program projects: CSP #569 (Course and Consequences of PTSD in Vietnam Era Veterans), and CSP #579 (Long Term Health Outcomes of Women Veterans’ Service in Vietnam), and is now leading another (VA RR&D CSP Can Dogs Improve Activity and Quality of Life for Veterans with PTSD?). She is also completing another multi-site VA HSR&D grant (EDU 08-42: Patient and Provider Outcomes of e-Learning Training in CAMS) and was recently PI on two HSR&D Short Term Projects dealing with PTSD and suicidality. Dr. Magruder is Director of the Regulatory Knowledge Key Function Committee of the South Carolina Clinical and Translational Research Institute (CTSA) and a co-investigator on the MUSC NIDA Clinical Trials Network. She is on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Trauma and Stress Studies and Associate Editor of the Journal of Traumatic Stress. She has published over 125 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
