Dr. Elizabeth Kirkland earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2012 after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with concentration in Neurosciences and a certificate in Spanish Language and Culture from Princeton University in 2008. Following her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at MUSC, she served as Chief Resident for the residency program from 2015-2016. During that year, she also launched her clinical research career, matriculating into the Masters of Science in Clinical Research program with anticipated completion in 2017. She plans a career in academic General Internal Medicine with continued direct patient care as well as clinical research particularly related to healthcare disparities.
