    C. D. Smith, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, is a tenured Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at MUSC, having been a faculty member continuously since 1978. His background includes an undergraduate degree from Princeton, an MD from Duke and a Masters of Science from the Center for Evaluative Sciences at Dartmouth College obtained during a sabbatical 1997 – 1998. After two years of pediatrics residency at Duke and at the University of Tennessee, he completed general surgery residency at the University of Tennessee and fellowship in pediatric surgery at Harvard (Boston Children’s Hospital). He served six years as the Medical Director for Quality for the University Hospital 1995 – 2001. Currently his chief interests are clinical care with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery and teaching.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
