One area emphasizes the study of learning/memory mechanisms involved in addictive behavior and the interface between stress, PTSD and substance use disorders. The second area of focus is gender differences in nicotine addiction, with special emphasis on the potential modulatory role of sex hormones on smoking behavior/cessation in nicotine dependent women/men.
