Dr. Dennis K. Watson is the Hollings Cancer Center’s Associate Director of Education & Training. He ensures the education and training structure that serves pre- and post-doctoral students as well as junior faculty within the HCC is well-structured, coordinated across multiple initiatives, effective, and promotes transdisciplinary collaborations. He is a Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and also is the leader of the Cancer Biology Division of the Molecular & Cellular Biology & Pathobiology Program in MUSC’s College of Graduate Studies. Dr. Watson has trained and mentored many young scientists pursuing cancer research who now occupy key positions in academic and industrial laboratories throughout the world.

Dr. Watson’s research interests are in the areas of cellular and molecular biology, gene discovery, cellular differentiation and molecular oncology. His laboratory has identified and functionally characterized genes with altered expression during cancer progression. Recent studies in his laboratory have explored the role of regulatory circuitry in tumor cell interaction with the microenvironment.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
